Projects
At local level, projects are identified and implemented with communities in coordination with the Regional and Local Government Authorities. Starting in the 1980s, AHEAD-Tanzania has supported a good number of community development projects with financial and material support from the local communities, AHEAD, Inc. (USA) and other well-wishers. Projects have been implemented in Kisarawe district (Coast region), Kishapu and Meatu districts (Shinyanga region) as well as Bukoba district (Kagera region) to improve children’s health care, nutrition, immunization and education; maternal health services; youth vocational training, adult education, provision of safe and clean water, solar electricity, construction of girls’ dormitories and transport facilities for pregnant women. Specifically, the following projects were implemented:

Our Plan for 2024
We envisage to move into implementation stage after putting necessary policy and physical infrastructures on place. We are ready to move and we are confidently that our paths will be in such way whereby our target communities will direct benefit from our intervention, and fully participate to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the implemented projects.

Completed Projects
Between 2016 and 2024 AHEAD Tanzania completed various projects:
Electrification of Bukara secondary school buildings
Land acquisition for Ahead Tanzania head office.
Construction of girls latrines and sanitation system at Bukara Secondary School
Construction of rainwater harvesting and water storage tank (65,000 cubic litres)
Construction and equipping the Maternal and Pediatric Ward at Maruku Health Centre including surgical theater, delivery unit, lab, one staff house, dispensing unit, records, reception, water tanks and septic tanks
Donation of photocopying machine, desktop computer and printer for the production of teaching and learning materialsl
Construction of two class rooms at Maruku Secondary School
Donated a healthy cow for producing milk for the orphans at Ntoma orphanage in Kanyangereko ward
Construction of rainwater harvesting system and water storage tank of 50,000 gallons (250,000 cubic litres) at Kishapu Rural Health Centre
Construction of dispensaries in Meatu District
Scholarship awards for 800 secondary school students
Support for orphans and families with very limited means
