At local level, projects are identified and implemented with communities in coordination with the Regional and Local Government Authorities. Starting in the 1980s, AHEAD-Tanzania has supported a good number of community development projects with financial and material support from the local communities, AHEAD, Inc. (USA) and other well-wishers. Projects have been implemented in Kisarawe district (Coast region), Kishapu and Meatu districts (Shinyanga region) as well as Bukoba district (Kagera region) to improve children’s health care, nutrition, immunization and education; maternal health services; youth vocational training, adult education, provision of safe and clean water, solar electricity, construction of girls’ dormitories and transport facilities for pregnant women. Specifically, the following projects were implemented:

Our Plan for 2024
We envisage to move into implementation stage after putting necessary policy and physical infrastructures on place. We are ready to move and we are confidently that our paths will be in such way whereby our target communities will direct benefit from our intervention, and fully participate to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the implemented projects.
